California: Tomorrow, December 28th Is the Last Day to Submit Comments on the Proposed Magazine Regulations

by  |  Published on December 27, 2016

Tomorrow December 28th is the final day to submit comments regarding California Department of Justice’s (DOJ) proposed  “emergency” magazine capacity regulations.

On December 16, the DOJ provided notice of proposed “emergency” regulations relating to magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds.  Included are changes to the requirements for obtaining and maintaining a “large-capacity magazine permit,” new regulations addressing so called “large-capacity” magazine conversion kits, new regulations on how individuals must “permanently alter” a magazine to accept no more than 10 rounds, and new regulations regarding the transfer and possession of multi-tube shotgun designs.

As reported, DOJ and the Office of Administrative Law (OAL), opened the five day public comment period at the start of the holiday weekend.  During this time, any member of the public, including those who reside outside of California, may submit their comments on the proposed regulations.  The comment period ends Wednesday December 28th at 5pm.  The regulations are slated to take effect January 2, 2017.

The NRA and CRPA’s team of attorneys have reviewed the proposed regulations and crafted a detailed analysis.  If you have not already done so, we encourage NRA members, gun owners, and Second Amendment supporters to review the analysis and to participate in the rulemaking process by submitting comments by 5pm TOMORROW, December 28th.  You can take action now by clicking here or on our TAKE ACTION link below.
