C.A.R.R. Backpack Transforms into Mobile Trauma Kit, Plate Carrier – SHOT Show 2018

Over in the tactical wing of SHOT Show, I expect to see a lot of products that are gimmicks. I also expect to see a lot of things that are a bad idea, even if they are in Multicam.

So it was with some apprehension that I was sent to learn about a bag. Fortunately for me, this one turned out to be a winner.

The Wraith Concealed Armor Rapid Response (C.A.R.R) pack is one of the most innovative products I have seen to date. It looks like a square backpack, but these looks are very deceiving.

With the pull of two straps, the Wraith deploys like a transformer, turning into hard armor plate carrier. Including full-size rifle magazines, med kit, accessory pouches, and the works. How? I’m still not really sure, and I made the booth guy do it several times.

The straps pull down and away, and with a twisting motion, the front panel deploys. This exposes the back panel, while the front pulls over your head. Buckle the previously hidden fasten buckles, and you are in a full-size plate carrier in seconds.

This has a lot of applications, from Police responding to an active shooter, to low visibility Special Operations deployments. There is a full-size medical bag option as well, giving the team Medic a similar capability.
