All my life, I have heard the phrase, “faith that can move mountains” or some variant of it. I never really understood what it meant until I got older.
I think it was truly understood during the hardest times in my life, where I remained faithful in my devotion and relationship with Christ; that this concept became more prevalent.
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Throughout the Bible, we constantly see what faith and the lack of faith can do. Daniel in the lion’s den, Noah and the Ark, or my favorite; Peter and Jesus walking on the water.
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
Peter had the faith it took to walk to Jesus on the water. But like so many of us do, we let the things surrounding us affect our faith and we start sinking. So many times, I should get out of my own head. “What ifs” and “Well I Don’t Knows” swarm into my thoughts and try to snuff out the faith that I have. We’ve all been there.
It is times like these though that you must put your trust in God and use that little spark of faith to continue. Keep your eyes on Jesus and walk on the proverbial water. Move that mountain. Accomplish the impossible.
“ if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.”
How profound that is! With faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move a mountain. For those of you who don’t know, a mustard seed is very, very tiny.
But that is how amazing our God is! That is how much he loves us! That he can take even the tiniest speck of faith, and use it to achieve miraculous goals! God Loves us, he loves you, he wants us to put our trust in him. So can you? Can you take that tiny amount of faith and give it to God?
If you keep your eyes on Jesus, you can walk on water.
